Arbut: A Wild Display Font

As I sat down to design the promotional graphic for a new product launch, the first thing I needed was a headline that screamed attention. Arbut was the obvious choice. This aggressive display typeface doesn’t just grab your eye—it commands it. With its bold, jagged letterforms and rhythmic, hand-drawn edges, Arbut feels like a raw, untamed energy captured in typography. It’s not subtle, but that’s exactly what makes it powerful.

Arbut for Social Media Graphics and YouTube Thumbnails

When I used Arbut for a YouTube thumbnail, the difference was immediate. The font’s sharp angles and dynamic shape made the title stand out even in a crowded feed. It worked especially well for a video titled “Unleash Your Inner Beast,” where the visual and text had to match the tone of the content. The jagged edges gave the thumbnail a sense of movement, making it feel more engaging than standard fonts. On mobile screens, Arbut retained its clarity, though I found that using it for smaller text sizes required careful spacing to avoid legibility issues.

For Instagram posts, Arbut added an edge that felt fresh and modern. I paired it with a clean sans serif for body text, which balanced the aggression of the display font without clashing. The result was a look that felt both bold and professional—perfect for a brand targeting a younger, edgier audience.

Arbut for Web Design and Landing Pages

On a landing page for a digital course, Arbut served as the primary header font. It immediately set the tone for the content, giving the page a sense of urgency and excitement. The font’s personality aligned well with the course’s theme: “Master the Art of Bold Branding.” Using Arbut here helped reinforce the message without overwhelming the reader. However, I kept the rest of the text in a simpler font to maintain readability and prevent visual fatigue.

In web design, Arbut is best suited for short headlines, call-to-action buttons, or logo-style text. It works well as a decorative title but may not be ideal for long paragraphs. When used in headers, it can help create a strong visual hierarchy, drawing the user’s eye toward key messages.

Arbut for Email Banners and Digital Ads

When designing an email banner for a seasonal sale, Arbut brought a sense of urgency and energy that other fonts couldn’t match. The font’s aggressive style complemented the sale’s “Last Chance” messaging, making the offer feel more compelling. On dark backgrounds, Arbut maintained its contrast and impact, while on light backgrounds, it still stood out without being harsh.

In digital ads, Arbut proved effective for headlines and campaign labels. Its unique character made it memorable, which is crucial in ad environments where users scroll quickly. However, I avoided using it for subtext or detailed information, as the font’s complexity could distract from the core message.

Arbut for Branded Templates and Content Series

For a branded template pack, Arbut was the perfect centerpiece. It added a distinct identity to everything from social media post templates to email banners. When paired with a minimalist design system, the font became a signature element that made the entire set feel cohesive and high-impact.

I also used Arbut for a content series titled “The Fierce Side of Creativity.” The font’s wild aesthetic matched the series’ theme perfectly, helping to establish a consistent visual language across all posts. It worked especially well for cover images and title cards, where a strong first impression is critical.

Arbut for Logo Design and Packaging

While Arbut isn’t typically used for full logos, it can be a great choice for taglines or secondary text in logo design. Its rugged, hand-drawn quality adds a layer of authenticity that many brands seek. For packaging, Arbut could work well for limited edition or themed products, where a bold, eye-catching font is essential.

However, I would recommend testing Arbut in different sizes and formats before finalizing any design. Some variations may require adjustments to ensure they look sharp on both print and digital mediums.
